Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Nola collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our mobile app, website, and related services.

Last updated: July 23, 2026

1. About Nola

Nola is a personal finance organization and budgeting tool. This policy applies to information processed when you create an account, record or organize financial activity, use optional AI-assisted features, manage a subscription, visit our website, or contact us.

Nola is not a bank, payment processor, financial institution, or professional financial adviser. Please submit only information reasonably needed to use the service and avoid including payment card numbers, account passwords, government identifiers, or other unrelated sensitive information.

2. Information We Process

Depending on how you use Nola, we may process the following categories of information:

  • Account information: contact details, authentication identifiers, account preferences, and information provided by a sign-in provider.
  • Financial content: transactions, categories, budgets, recurring items, notes, and other records you choose to create, import, or share through Nola.
  • Content submitted to optional features: text, images, and audio you choose to provide for AI-assisted entry or other app functions.
  • Purchase information: subscription, entitlement, trial, and purchase status. Payments made through the App Store are processed by Apple, and Nola does not receive your full payment card details.
  • Usage and technical information: feature interactions, onboarding progress, app and device information, network information such as an IP address, and general location that may be inferred from it.
  • Communications: support requests, feedback, feature suggestions, reports, and other messages you send us.

3. How We Use Information

We use information as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide, personalize, maintain, and secure Nola.
  • Authenticate accounts and sync information across devices.
  • Process the entries and actions you request.
  • Provide and manage subscriptions, trials, and purchase restoration.
  • Respond to support requests and communicate about the service.
  • Understand product usage and improve performance, reliability, and usability.
  • Detect abuse, investigate security incidents, enforce our terms, and comply with law.

We do not sell your personal information or use your personal financial records for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. AI-Assisted Features

When you choose an AI-assisted feature, Nola may send the content and limited supporting context reasonably needed to complete your request to service providers that help process it. For example, this may include text, an image, audio, or relevant category information.

These providers process information under their own contractual, security, and retention practices. We take steps designed to limit what is sent to the information needed for the requested feature, but no external processing service can be guaranteed to be error-free or risk-free. AI-generated results may be inaccurate or incomplete, and you should review them before saving or relying on them.

5. Permissions and Your Device

Nola may request access to your camera, photo library, microphone, speech recognition, or biometric authentication only when supported by a feature you choose to use. You can manage these permissions in your device settings. Disabling a permission may limit the related feature.

Face ID and other biometric authentication are handled by your device. Your biometric data stays on the device, and Nola does not receive it.

Some preferences, session information, and pending changes may be stored on your device to support security, performance, and limited offline use.

6. How We Disclose Information

We may disclose information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: to companies that support hosting, authentication, data storage and synchronization, analytics, subscription management, communications, support, and AI processing.
  • At your direction: when you choose to share information, join a shared feature, or connect a third-party service.
  • Legal and safety purposes: when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud or abuse, or secure the service.
  • Business transactions: in connection with a financing, reorganization, merger, acquisition, or transfer of all or part of the business, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Service providers are permitted to process information only for the services they provide to us, subject to their agreements and applicable law. Third-party services you choose to use may also be governed by their own privacy policies.

7. Analytics and Product Improvement

We use product analytics to understand how Nola performs and how features are used. Analytics may include app and device information, screen and feature interactions, onboarding progress, and purchase status. We do not use this information for third-party advertising.

8. Public and Shared Features

Information you intentionally submit to a shared group or community feature may be visible to other authorized users. Do not include personal, financial, or sensitive information in feature requests or other submissions intended for community visibility. We may moderate, restrict, or remove content to protect users and the service.

9. Retention and Account Deletion

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and secure Nola, maintain your account, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Retention may vary by the type of information and the reason we process it.

When you request account deletion, we will delete or de-identify information associated with your Nola account within a reasonable period, subject to legal requirements, legitimate security and fraud-prevention needs, active disputes, and ordinary backup lifecycles. Information already aggregated or de-identified may be retained where it can no longer reasonably identify you.

10. Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your Rights and Regional Disclosures

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to certain processing of, or request a copy of your personal information. You can update certain information and request account deletion within Nola, manage device permissions in system settings, and manage your subscription through Apple.
